The Arts

Performing Arts

In addition to classroom Drama studies as per the Victorian Curriculum, our Performing Arts programs provide a dynamic space for students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop a deep appreciation for the arts. Students have the chance to participate in various performances throughout the year, from school productions and concerts to talent showcases. For students who prefer to work behind the scenes, they can get involved with stage management, set design, costuming, make-up, live-streaming, lighting and sound design.

Our passionate teachers will guide students through every step of the creative process, fostering a supportive environment where they can thrive. Whether you’re interested in acting, singing, playing an instrument, or learning the art of stagecraft, our Performing Arts program offers something for everyone. A highlight of our program is the yearly school production which generates a real buzz in our wider community.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program at Doncaster Secondary College follows the Victorian Curriculum and is designed to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for the visual world. In years 7 and 8, students will be introduced to Art, Ceramics, Visual Communications and Media skills. From Year 9 onwards, the Visual Arts form part of the elective subjects. In VCE, students can study Art – Making & Exhibiting, Media or Visual Communication Design.

Students are given opportunities to showcase their work in exhibitions in our Tunnel Vision Art Space, regular competitions, and College publications, gaining valuable experience in presenting their art to a wider audience. Guided by our experienced educators, students in our Visual Arts program learn to express their ideas and emotions through their creations, all while developing a strong foundation in visual literacy. The College provides excellent facilities, including dedicated Art rooms, laser cutters, 3D printers, and digital platforms.
