What are Educational Support Dogs?

The aim of having Educational Support Dogs is to improve wellbeing and engagement across the school. This will be achieved through improving socialising skills and self -awareness skills that are part of the Social and emotional learning (SEL) competencies. These competencies are linked to Victorian Curriculum standards. These competencies are addressed in our Discovery program under the Respectful Relationships program (RRRR). We have implemented this program school-wide on a trial basis.

To optimise student learning opportunities and experiences, close attention is also given to the provision of up-to-date facilities at Doncaster Secondary College

For many years, an active building program has been pursued to ensure that student learning takes place in pleasant surroundings with modern buildings purpose-built to complement the learning programs.

Our most recent building components have included:
totally revamped and modernised Year 7 and Year 8 learning centres with flexible learning spaces;

Instrumental Music

Tuition is offered on a large range of woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments during school time. Students learning at the College are expected to be a part of large ensembles that rehearse before or after school. Students who learn outside of school are also encouraged to participate in the choir and ensembles with the school. ‘Student Art Gallery’

Student art gallery is a permanent gallery at DSC that exhibits artwork from years 7 to 12. Titled ‘Tunnel vision’ this gallery is updated regularly and illustrates the wide variety of mediums students explore in Media studies, photography, visual communication design, textiles and art lessons. This gallery space provides students the opportunity to collaborate and curate their own exhibition at various times throughout the year.
